Ours is an electric cast saw with a vibrating blade, and it is different: It does not have to roll-blades that cut the skin when touched. What allows the skin not to be cut is its mode of operation-the blade vibrates and does not rotate against the cast that’s touching it. Since it uses high resistance cast material instead of traditional steel blades, it doesn‘t have a problem cutting into plaster or fiberglass and yet cannot cut the skin. Variable speed control from 1 (gentlest) to 6 (fastest) makes the electric plaster cast saw very convenient for cutting operations. In the case of patients specifically, therefore cutting can be done at a suitable speed for maximum comfort.
